Mr. Wannop had been told by his father of dancing classes held by Bobby Miller of Penrith, perhaps in the 1850s. His father/grandfather mentioned the following dances as being taught by him:
Mr Wannop attended classes in Penrith with Jack Iveson. He learned the following dances:
- Barn Dance
- Caledonian Circle
- Circassian Circle
- La Varsovienne
- Lancers
- Long Eight
- Military Two Step
- Quadrilles
- Sir Roger de Coverley
- Six Reel
- Square Eight
Mr Wannop had also heard old people speak of the following:
He remembered harvest homes, when they danced on the grass outside the barn and also at various halls in Penrith.
