Chloe Middleton-Metcalfe

Chloe Middleton-Metcalfe is completing her PhD in the dance department at Roehampton university under Dr Sara Houston and Professor Theresa Buckland. Her thesis examines English social folk dance (barn dances and ceilidhs) and focuses on events organised by and for non-specialists. She created the first ever list of social folk dances collected in England. This was published online as An Introductory Bibliography of Traditional Social Folk Dance (2019) by the Vaughan Williams Memorial library.

Chloe came to dance through an interest in dress, training as a costume maker at the Central School of Speech and Drama and completing an MA in Investigating Fashion History at Bath Spa University. In 2014 she authored the online resource A Beginners Guide to English Folk Costumes for the English Folk Dance and Song Society.

Her step dancing began with Stony Steppers (Milton Keynes), and Camden Clog (London), and continues with The Grand Union Canal Entertainment Company https://gucecompany.com/ For more details visit: https://roehampton-online.academia.edu/ChloeMetcalfe
