Rhodes, Leo “George”

Clog dancer from Sheffield where he won the Yorkshire Professional Clog Dance Championship.

Son of George Rhodes who also danced and from whom he may have learned and father of Percy Rhodes with whom he performed.  Also the grandfather of Gwen Naylor whom he taught.

His double act with Percy consisted of dancing on two marble slabs and then jumping up onto two three-legged stools fixed to the stage.

Information derived from an interview with Gwen Naylor on 22/3/1986 and a photostat of her MS notes on dancing derived from Percy Rhodes in 1956.
