John Thomas Ellwood (1910 – 1979), son of Jimmy Ellwood and brother of Johnson Ellwood.1979
Born 3rd JUne 1910. Tom Ellwood is the memer of the Ellwood family of dancers about whom we know the least. He was presumably taught by his father Jimmy and entered the revived Northumberland and Durham Championships held at Stanley in 1935. Unfortunately for him he was drawn to dance against his father (and Matty Smith, probably another of his father’s pupils) on 25th June 1935. He lost, although his father did not proceed much further being knocked out at the semi-final stage.
We know nothing else of him, other than that he probably died in 1979.
