Kerry Fletcher is a choreographer and traditional dancer, working within British, European and American traditional dance, both social and percussive step dance. She is Co Artistic Director of Folk Dance Remixed, a freelance community folk dance artist and is the co-ordinator of the English Folk Dance and Song Society’s (EFDSS) national Folk Educators Group.

Kerry has been steeped in traditional dance and music from an early age. As a young person, she led a double life of morris dancer by day and disco dancer by night!  She has also been involved in the reviving and reinvigorating of Southern English step dancing in Kent and Sussex and, with Folk Dance Remixed, she combines her love of the old and new by refreshing and reinventing traditional dance to be enjoyed by all. She’s particularly interested in creating performance and participatory dance with English folk dance at its heart, and in celebrating the riches of diversity in dance that this country enjoys.

Kerry has worked extensively throughout the country both indoors and out, in fields and marquees and on riverside quays – from Southbank Centre to Baltic, from Edinburgh Harp Festival to the Gower Folk Festival. She has developed performance work at Chisenhale Dance Space and performed with the likes of Broken Ankles, acclaimed Appalachian Cloggers; step danced with Rosemary Lee and Simon Whitehead’s Calling Tree project; led the open step board at the East Anglian Traditional Music Days and was co-choreographer and performer with Karen Tweed’s 14piece company, Circa Compania. In 2014 she delivered two projects for EFDSS’s The Full English national education project and, along with Folk Dance Remixed, was commissioned by EFDSS in 2016 and 2018 to deliver outreach projects for U.Dance, National Youth Dance Festival. Kerry’s a regular tutor at EFDSS, The Sidmouth Folk Festival and Halsway Manor, and is a member of Instep Research Team.
