Clog and social dancer from Ambleside, and later Great Urswick. b. 1875.
Brought up in Ambleside. Taught by Joseph Robinson (Old Jos) in the barn at the old mill. Sent by mother to improve posture. Attended for three seasons from 1886 at age 10. Taught polka step and waltz step before step-dancing.
He learned the following dances:
