MacLeod, John

Dancing master from Eochar, South Uist.

John Mcleod learned to dance from Archie MacPherson, also of Eochar who had learned from Ewan MacLachlan. One of the main sources for notations of step dances from the Hebrides.

John Mcleod taught the following solo dances:

Blue Bonnets
First of August
Highland Laddie
Over the Water to Charlie
Tulloch Gorm

MacPherson had also offered to teach him the solo Flowers of Edinburgh but he did not learn this.

He also provided notations for the social dance The White Cockade.
