Solo step dance recorded from oral tradition from South Uist, originally taught by Ewan MacLachlan in the mid-nineteenth century

Known to have been taught by the following dancing masters:

Donald (Roidein) MacDonald – of South Uist

Ronald Morrison of South Uist.

Information on the dance comes from pupils of Donald (Roidein) MacDonald:

Donald Walker – 5 steps – see an interview with him by Frank Rhodes on 7/7/1956.
Annie MacDonald – one step – see an interview with her by Frank Rhodes on 8/7/1956.

And from Fearchar MacNeil collected by Tom Flett in the 1950s given in his undated original fieldwork notes. He had learned the dance from his grandfather Neil Buchanan who in turn learned from a dancing master named Ronald Morrison.
