Lowe, Ann

Scottish dance teacher.  She was the fourth generation dance teacher in her family.

Her father, Joseph Lowe, was the author of 6 collections of reels and strathspeys. He probably taught in Edinburgh. Died before 1885. His wife taught Queen Victoria to dance at Balmoral in1860. Queen Victoria paid for two Lowe brothers to attend the Bluecoat School in London.  Her brother was George William Lowe, born c 1852. He taught in Edinburgh, Inverness, Forres, Elgin and Wick. Played violin. Died 1906.
