Alice Louise Sherry, known in the family as “Laline” was a musician, singer, perhaps also a dancer, and a professional music hall artiste.

Alice Louise Sherry was born in 1901, the fourth child of James Bernard Sherry and Alice Louise Bradley-Truman. She began her stage career performing with her father under the name of “Lalini”. She later worked for many years with her sisters as part of an act known as “The Sherina Sisters” After her three younger sisters married she carried on performing on her own for several more years before herself marrying. Often credited as being the most talented member of the family she sang and played the violin, often accompanying herself using her voice and the violin as melody and harmony. She also danced and was the only one of the girls to show any aptitude for acting, especially comedy, with a particular gift for dialect.
