Sam Sherry at the Albert Hall

Ex-music hall/variety performer Sam Sherry retired from professional dancing in 1956.  About 20 years later he volunteered to perform for an EFDSS ceilidh in Lancashire in 1967 and immediately came to the attention of the wider Society as a first-class clog dancer.

Sam made three appearances at the Spociety’s festival at the Royal Albert Hall..  Firstly in 1971 when he was accpmpanied by accordionist Brian Willcocks and the photograph on the right was taken, and again in 1974 when he performed as part of a “Harvest Home” section, perhaps again accompanied by Willcocks.

His final appearance was in 1980 when his musician is not known.

Sam went on to appear at numerous other festivals and taught his routines to countless revival dancers.
